Alexander McQueen Design Collaborations with Shaun Leane
The Shaun Leane Jewellery House is responsible for creating a new genre of jewellery; precious and poetic, with a sense of eternity, yet relevant to today’s world. The powerful, emotive and often poignant beauty of Shaun Leane jewellery is underlined with sentiment, stories and meaning, tapping into the history and heritage of jewellery.
While working as a goldsmith, Leane began a long-standing collaboration with the late Alexander McQueen, creating provocative pieces that have become iconic milestones in the art of body adornment and catwalk jewellery.
For over a decade, the award-winning British jewellery house Shaun Leane contributed work to the McQueen catwalk.
The much-anticipated exhibition “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” will be on view until the 31st July 2011 in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The exhibition celebrates the late Alexander McQueen’s extraordinary contributions and legacy to fashion. From his Central Saint Martin’s postgraduate collection in 1992 to his final post-mortem presentation in February 2010, McQueen challenged and expanded our understanding of fashion beyond utility to a conceptual expression of culture, politics, and identity.
Leane describes working with McQueen as “a truly unique and creative experience,” which “gave me the platform to push the boundaries of jewellery design, allowing me to grow to be the designer I am today.”
